Our week 7 predictions went 5-2 against the point spread and could have been a million times better. LSU was favored by 2.5 and ended up winning by only 2 against South Carolina when the Gamecocks pulled out a miracle touchdown late in the game, while we had Stanford +7 and they lead nearly the entire game before losing by exactly 7 in overtime. We called the Texas Tech upset of West Virginia and have a few other upsets ready to go in our week 8 college football predictions.
Record against the point spread: 17-15
Alabama -20 at Tennessee
The Crimson Tide is the best team in college football but the Volunteers are at home and have the offense to put up enough points to cover this massive point spread.
Michigan State at Michigan -9
Denard Robinson is a highlight reel but he's also a guy that buckles against better defenses. The Wolverines have no business being favored by this many points and could lose outright against their in-state rival.
Texas Tech at TCU -1
The Red Raiders are fresh off their stunning destruction of West Virginia but the Horned Frogs are still better than them even without their star quarterback. Look for TCU to win handily.
Florida State -21 at Miami (FL)
Miami (FL) will likely be without starting quarterback Stephen Morris here and I expect them to get completely embarassed in this one-sided rivalry game.
Kansas State at West Virginia -3
The Mountaineers don't deserve to be favored over anyone with an offensive pulse at this stage. Look for the Wildcats to score 50+ as they hand West Virginia their second straight loss.
LSU -3.5 at Texas A&M
The Aggies have looked strong against some lesser competition but won't be able to move the ball against LSU. Look for the Tigers to welcome them to the SEC with a 10-point victory.
South Carolina at Florida -3.5
Florida has a great defense, but their offense is still a question mark. The same could be said for South Carolina who will be dealing with a hip injury to star running back Marcus Lattimore. This game should be low-scoring and you have to like the underdog in this situation.
