Our week 8 college football predictions ended up going only 3-4 thanks to some bad breaks, but we won't let that derail us for week 9. Amongst the most painful losses of week 8 were TCU losing overtime as a 1-point favorite against Texas Tech despite outgaining their foe by nearly 150 total yards, and South Carolina being blown out by Florida as a 3.5-point underdog despite winning the battle in total yardage. Let's not dwell on the bad beats and instead move on to what should be a profitable slate of games coming your way in week 9.
Record against the point spread: 20-19
Mississippi State at Alabama -23
The Bulldogs haven't faced a decent team all season long and will likely get demolished here. Go with Alabama despite the massive point spread.
Michigan State at Wisconsin -6
Wisconsin is playing better football lately but they still have issues on both sides of the ball. Look for the Spartans to keep it close and possibly win outright.
Florida -6.5 at Georgia
Georgia is simply not a good team and they can't move the ball against good defenses. Florida wins in blowout fashion.
USC -6.5 at Arizona
The Trojans are overrated and could lose this high-scoring affair outright. Go with Arizona at home.
Ohio State at Penn State -1
Ohio State might be undefeated but they are a mess on defense and their quarterback is dinged. Penn State is fighting hard and is the better team.
Texas Tech at Kansas State -6
Don't be suckered into believing the Red Raiders can compete here just because they got lucky against TCU last week. Kansas State wins with little issue.
TCU at Oklahoma State -7.5
The Horned Frogs should be able to score 50 or more against the Cowboys' defense, and they are one of the better plays of the week.
Tennessee at South Carolina -6
South Carolina looked terrible last time out but should shut down the Tennessee offense while easily covering this point spread at home.
Notre Dame at Oklahoma -11
The Fighting Irish can't move the ball and Oklahoma has the offense to convert turnovers into points. The Sooners win in a rout and expose one of the last unbeaten teams in college football.
Michigan at Nebraska -2.5
These teams both have big problems but I think the Wolverines are the better team and will roll the dice with them as an underdog this weekend.
