The AFC Championship Game was a huge failure thanks to miscues from the New England Patriots, while the San Francisco 49ers won by exactly what the point spread predicted in the NFC Championship Game which means a wash for our predictions. Now we move on to the Super Bowl between the 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens and will have predictions up on both the point spread and the total odds in a bid to make a great season even better.
Record against the point spread: 124-90
San Francisco is a 3.5-point favorite for the Super Bowl, while the odds on the total have the line set at 47.5. The 49ers got off to a slow start while getting down 0-17 against the Atlanta Falcons before finally playing like they are capable of, while the Ravens held off quite a few charges from the Patriots and converted on their chances to move on to the Super Bowl.
The 49ers have a terrific offense that can run all over opposing defenses but can also pass. The teams they play can't concentrate on one facet of stopping them because San Francisco will use another to beat them, and the Ravens don't have much of a chance of slowing this team down. Baltimore can't stop the run this year, while Ray Lewis is too slow to help out defending the pass anymore. The 49ers will score at will in the Super Bowl.
Baltimore's offense has a strong rushing attack to go along with an improving vertical passing game, but quarterback Joe Flacco has proven time and time again he's mistake prone and I don't believe his recent matchups against 2 vastly overrated defenses have fixed that issue. San Francisco will stop the Baltimore run and force them to pass and this will lead to turnovers as the Ravens get out of their comfort zone.
Look for the 49ers to win the Super Bowl without too much hassle. San Francisco won't be stopped on offense, and their defense should be able to force key turnovers throughout. Bet on the 49ers to cover this small point spread as the total goes over. Predictions on the final score here call for San Francisco to win 38-17 with the game being firmly in control before halftime.
