After a surprising 4-0 start, Arizona went onto lose 11 of their next 12 games to finish with a 5-11 record. The blame of their losing streak lies with quarterback play. Kevin Kolb flashed some potential in the first four games, but injuries ended his season. The Cardinals need to bring in competition via the draft or free agency to bolster the position. They must also solidify their pass-protection, as no team gave up more sacks last season. The Cards are coming off a solid defensive effort, but they need a rush linebacker, and adding a No. 2 cornerback would solidify the unit.
Team Needs: CB, OLB, OLT, & QB
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have just two glaring holes. They must find a vertical threat to compliment Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis as receiving threats. In addition, Dashon Goldson is set to become a free agent, so the team must make a decision on his future. Look for the 49ers to focus on those key positions, while adding depth to their defensive line.
Team Needs: FS, DE, NT, & WR
Perhaps next season’s Super Bowl favorites, Seattle will need a strong off-season to live up to their newly created expectations. They should start by finding a consistent wide receiver for QB Russell Wilson. Sidney Rice and Golden Tate are high-profiles names, but they’re better suited for No. 2 and No. 3 roles. The Seahawks could also solidify the offensive line by replacing Breno Giacomini at right tackle. Finally, defensive line depth is a priority with Alan Branch set to test free agency and Chris Clemons coming off a torn ACL.
Team Needs: DE, DT, ORT, & WR
St. Louis Rams
Jeff Fisher managed to make St. Louis competitive in his first season as head coach. They didn’t have a winning record, but they played arguably the NFC’s three best teams (San Francisco, Green Bay, & Seattle) tough. This off-season, they need to make a very serious decision about Steven Jackson. The all-pro caliber running back is a free agent, and despite his age (turns 30 in July), the Rams reportedly want him back. The other major needs are wide receiver and tight end. Brian Quick and Lance Kendricks are young investments, but Sam Bradford is going into his fourth year as starter, and has yet to play with a dynamic pass-catcher. Signing or drafting a strong safety would solidify an up-and-coming defense.
