Well we ended up going just 6-9 with our NFL predictions in week 4 and will be looking for a much stronger set of picks this weekend. The Houston Texans blew a big lead against the Seattle Seahawks, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also ended up flopping in the 2nd half in games that could easily have had us go 8-7 in week 4. There are some incredible week 5 NFL matchups to make predictions on and our thoughts are listed below on every game.
NFL Record Year-to-Date: 21-26
Kansas City Chiefs -2 at Tennessee Titans
The Chiefs are for real and I don't think Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to do well against this above average defense. Go with the Chiefs to keep it rolling in week 5.
Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins -3
The Ravens had a lot of luck in winning the Super Bowl last year and it's obvious they aren't as good of a team as some thought. That being said, the Dolphins were exposed last week and will lose again on Sunday.
Jackonsville Jaguars at St. Louis Rams -12
The Jaguars can't do anything right offensively and will be blown out again. St. Louis has looked off this season but it doesn't take much to win by a few touchdowns against Jacksonville these days.
New England Patriots at Cincinnati Bengals -1
New England isn't expected to get Rob Gronkowski back in this game and it wouldn't surprise me to see them struggle to move the ball on the road against a decent defense. Look for Cincinnati to win comfortably as the Patriots are simply too injured on offense to keep up.
Seattle Seahawks -3 at Indianapolis Colts
The Seahawks' defense won't give Andrew Luck and company much room to work. The Colts haev looked good lately but are simply running into a juggernaut and will be embarassed at home in week 5.
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers -7
The Lions seem likely to give up 40 points against the Packers here and I don't think their offense is good enough to turn this into a track meet. Detroit will get flustered by the exotic blitz looks and lose by 20 or so.
New Orleans Saints -1 at Chicago Bears
The Bears aren't that good of a team but I also think the Saints are due for a letdown. Look for Chicago to exploit New Orleans' vastly overrated defense while getting the early lead and holding on for the win.
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants -1.5
It's tough trying to figure out which of these teams is the shinier turd with both looking unimpressive. Ultimately I'm looking for a shootout and will take the Giants at home. Philadelphia might be the only team in the NFL the Giants can move the ball against right now.
Carolina Panthers -2 at Arizona Cardinals
Carolina isn't going to have much fun going into Arizona to play the Cardinals in the desert. Look for Cam Newton to make plenty of his signature mistakes as the Cardinals win in a sloppy game.
San Diego Chargers -4 at Oakland Raiders
The Raiders will get Terrelle Pryor back here but it looks as if Darren McFadden will sit out. San Diego has big injury issues along the offensive line but it won't matter here as they blow out of on the worst teams in the NFL.
Denver Broncos -7.5 at Dallas Cowboys
Dallas has the offense to make this a competitive game and I think they could pull the outright upset at home. Denver will score but their defense will give up plenty of points as well.
Hosuton Texans at San Francisco 49ers -6.5
The 49ers are still going to struggle offensively against above average defenses and I think Houston can keep this competitive and possibly win outright. San Francisco is simply too injured to be this large of a favorite.
New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons -10
The Falcons don't have much of a defense this year but that won't matter since Geno Smith is terrible at quarterback for the Jets. Look for Atlanta to win big at home.
