Our week 5 college football predictions went 10-5 and we are back for more winning picks in week 6. Listed below are a majroity of the top 25 teams in action in week 6, minus some times like the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide who are 55 point favorites against Georgia State. Why a team like Alabama has Georgia State on the schedule is beyond me, but for our predictions we are going to completely ignore one-sided mismatches like that.
College Football Year-to-Date Record: 14-10
Louisville Cardinals -32 at Temple Owls
The Owls are simply not a good team this season and will lose 45-0 or so against a strong Louisville squad that will score at will.
Maryland Terrapins at Florida State Seminoles -16.5
Maryland has been looking good against bad teams but they are in for a rude awakening against Florida State. The Seminoles should put up 40 or more while winning by 20 or more on Saturday.
Texas Tech Red Raiders -16.5 at Kansas
The Jayhawks are streaky but their defense occasionally shows up in a big way and I think they can potentially win outright against a Texas Tech squad that relies too much on an offense that hasn't looked right.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Miami Florida Hurricanes -6
The Yellow Jackets run the ball and play strong defense which should be enough to keep this game close. Miami has a nice team this year but they don't excel at any facet and I think a field goal decides this matchup.
Clemson Tigers -14 at Syracuse Orangemen
The Tigers have one of the better offenses in college football but they are also turnover prone at times. Syracuse should be able to run the ball in this matchup and I think the Orangemen only lose by 8.
Kansas State Wildcats at Oklahoma State Cowboys -13.5
Kansas State's defense won't be able to stop the Cowboys at all. Oklahoma State wins 60-24 or something crazy while scoring at will.
Minnesota Golden Gophers at Michigan Wolverines -19
Michigan can't be trusted as this large of a favorite against an improving team like Minnesota. The Wolverines are mistake prone and let teams stay close so I'm thinking they only win by 10.
Fresno State Bulldogs -27.5 at Idaho Vandals
Fresno State doesn't have a defense, but they are capable of scoring a million points here. Unfortunately for them, Idaho can put up 30 or more while covering the point spread.
Oregon Ducks -39 at Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado's defense has been solid and has lots of experience coming back. I like the Buffaloes to make a game out of this at home and, although it sounds a bit crazy, I wouldn't be surprise to see Colorado threaten for an outright victory.
Arkansas Razorbacks at Florida Gators -12.5
The Gators don't have an offense but Arkansas doesn't play much defense so Florida could move the ball anyway. This is a tough one but go with the Gators at home to cover the point spread. Arkansas will turn the ball over too often to stay competitive.
LSU Tigers -9.5 at Mississippi State Bulldogs
LSU has a great offense but their defense can't stop anyone this season. Go with Mississippi State to keep the game close at home in a shootout.
TCU Horned Frogs at Oklahoma Sooners -9.5
TCU hasn't looked in top form on either side of the ball this season but they usually play the Sooners well. Oklahoma doesn't stop many teams from scoring so look for the Sooners to win 42-38 or so.
Ole Miss Rebels -3 at Auburn Tigers
The Rebels were exposed last week but their offense should be much more productive against an Auburn defense that isn't overly impressive. I like the road favorite to win big since Auburn's offense isn't clicking yet.
Kentucky Wildcats at South Carolina Gamecocks -21
Kentucky can't move the ball this year and the Gamecocks get Connor Shaw back in action here. I like South Carolina to turn interceptions and fumbles into easy points in this blowout.
WVU Mountaineers at Baylor Bears -28.5
Baylor looks great this season and it's tough to know what to expect out of the Mountaineers. WVU will give up a million points but could keep the score close with long drives of their own, but ultimately I'm putting my money on Baylor since I know they can score 50 or moer.
Ohio State Buckeyes -7 at Northwestern Wildcats
Ohio State is a bit lucky to be undefeated right now and they are likely to pick up their first loss of the year in this tough road game. Northwestern is a legitimate threat and I like them to win outright.
Washington Huskies at Stanford Cardinal -8
Washington might be the best team in the Pac 12 this season and I love them as underdogs here. Stanford is sound like always but Washington has the explosive playmakers on both sides of the ball and I think the Huskies leave with a victory.
