Thanks to some bad luck we took a step backward in week 16 and the predicitons only went 6-9. Oakland dropped an easy touchdown that is caught 99.9% of the time to ensure our bet on them did not cover the odds, while the 49ers and Cowboys were just a point or two away from getting us additional wins. Week 17 of the NFL season is always a bit crazy with certain teams resting their regulars but we are confident the predictions below will pan out.
NFL Record Year-to-Date: 97-86-4
Carolina Panthers -6 at Atlanta Falcons
The Panthers still have something to play for here and they should be able to shut down the Atlanta offense while scoring at will against one of the worst defenses in football.
Green Bay Packers -3 at Chicago Bears
Aaron Rodgers is back and it sounds like Randall Cobb will be joining him on Sunday. Chicago can't stop anyone so look for the Packers to roll big.
Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans -7
Houston has taken my money all season long but I still feel they are the better team in this matchup. If the Texans try to win they should do so outright and I'll put money on them once again.
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers -7
I don't believe that either of these teams has called it a season yet so both should play hard on Sunday. If Cleveland's defense shows up the Steelers might not get in the endzone so go with the underdog.
Washington Redskins at New York Giants -3.5
The Redskins are playing well but have no defense. New York has finally found a team they can score on and I'm backing the Giants at home here.
Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals -6
The Ravens are not a good team this season and the odds makers are just now catching on. Cincinnati has been one of the best teams at home this season and I think they can win here by double digits.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts -11.5
The Colts seem to play to their level of competition quite a bit and I think this is too many points against a Jacksonville team playing much better in the 2nd half of the season.
Philadelphia Eagles -6.5 at Dallas Cowboys
Tony Romo is likely going to miss action here but Dallas should still be the bet. The Cowboys have a veteran backup in Kyle Orton and they should be able to keep the score close at home against a team that has some defensive issues.
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins -6.5
The Jets are still playing hard for Rex Ryan and Miami was a disaster last week. New York could easily win this game outright and they are one of my favorite bets of the week.
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings -3
Detroit collapsed badly as the season wore on but they are still a better team than the Vikings. That being said, the Lions don't seem to care anymore so go with Minnesota.
Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots -9
The Patriots could have issues stopping the Buffalo rushing attack and New England isn't nearly as dangerous without Rob Gronkowski. Go with the Bills to keep it close.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints -12.5
Tampa Bay has improved quite a bit as the season has worn on but New Orleans is nearly impossible to beat at home. The Saints need a win here and should get one in blowout fashion.
Denver Broncos -12.5 at Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are still trying hard but with Terrelle Pryor back at quarterback I think they'll make too many mistakes to keep this one within 20.
San Francisco 49ers -1 at Arizona Cardinals
The 49ers' offense hasn't been strong lately and it's tough to score on the Cardinals in the desert. That being said, San Francisco has the experience and Colin Kaepernick should do enough for a narrow win.
Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers -9.5
The Chiefs will be resting their starters against a San Diego team that needs a win for a shot at the postseason so you have to like the Chargers in this spot. It's a lot of points but Kansas City has nothing to play for.
St. Louis Rams at Seattle Seahawks -10.5
Seattle suffered their first loss at home in what seems like forever last week and I think they'll be a bit more focused this time around. Look for the Seahawks to win by 20 or so as they get some momentum going for the postseason.
