2014 Team Needs: NFC South
By Matt Horkman

Atlanta Falcons
After a strong 2012 campaign, Atlanta re-signed offensive tackle Sam Baker to a lucrative contract. Baker finished last season on injured reserve because of a knee injury. If he returns from injury, pairing him with Texas A&M’s Jake Matthews or Auburn’s Greg Robinson could entice general manager Thomas Dimitroff. Upgrading the defensive line will also be on Dimitroff’s radar. The Falcons have talent inside, but Peria Jerry, Corey Peters, and Jonathan Babineaux are all free agents. Landing an edge rusher also makes sense. The Falcons seem like a logical candidate to move up in the draft to select South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. Tony Gonzalez is retired and Steven Jackson turns 31 in July, so the long-term situation at running back and tight end is dicey.

Team Needs: DL, OT, RB, & TE

Carolina PanthersJordan Gross
Re-signing defensive end Greg Hardy is Carolina’s top off-season priority. Hardy has 26 sacks over the last two seasons, so he’d draw heavy interest on the open market. I suspect the Panthers won’t allow that to come fruition, as they can always use the franchise tag on him. Two of Carolina’s top three cornerbacks (Captain Munnerlyn & Drayton Florence) are also free agents, so replacing one could be in the cards. On offense, starting left tackle Jordan Gross turns 34 in July, so adding a developmental left tackle could be in the works. Aside from retaining their own free agents, their biggest off-season priority is finding a receiver to compliment veteran Steve Smith.

Team Needs: CB, DE, LT, & WR

New Orleans Saints
You can never have enough cornerbacks in today’s pass-happy NFL. Keenan Lewis played well last year, but he could be even better with a dependable running mate. The Saints will need to address the offensive line this off-season. Their starting center (Brian De La Puente) and right tackle (Zach Strief) are free agents. Speaking of free agents, tight end Jimmy Graham will be their top priority. The best scenario has him signing a long-term contract, but they’ll use the franchise tag on him before they let him test free agency. The Saints’ defense made major strides under coordinator Rob Ryan, but they need an edge rusher.

Team Needs: C, CB, OLB, & OT

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By hiring Lovie Smith, Tampa should take an underachieving defense and vastly improve it. He’s that good of a coach. With that said, they could still use a pass-rushing end to solidify their defensive front. The rest of their focus will likely be on offense, where they need to decide whether quarterback Mike Glennon is their future. Adding a few more pass catchers to the offense would be of immense help to whoever their signal caller is.

Team Needs: DE, QB, TE, & WR
