Our college football predictions aren't lighting the world on fire like they are in the NFL, but we are still slowly winning money. Week 7 saw us go 3-2 in another profitable but unexciting week. We correctly predicted the Ole Miss Rebels to dominate the Texas A&M Aggies, the Oregon Ducks to destroy the UCLA Bruins, and for the TCU Horned Frogs to keep it close as a big underdog against the Baylor Bears. We whiffed on predictions that Auburn and Missouri would win, but in the end, we still pulled out a little bit of profit.
College Football Year-to-Date Record: 17-15
No. 23 Stanford Cardinal -3.5 at No. 17 Arizona State Sun Devils
There is a reason why the higher rated team playing at home is an underdog on Saturday, and that's because Stanford should roll here. Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly isn't fully healthy and won't start, so take the Cardinal to really limit what the Sun Devils do offensively while winning by eight.
No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies at No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide -14
There is a large overreaction to how poorly the Aggies played last week against Ole Miss. Texas A&M is still a team with a very experienced defense and an offense that can put up points against anyone. The Crimson Tide are simply not as good as Ole Miss this year and there is no reason for them to be favored by 14, especially with so many things to work through offensively. Take the Aggies to lose by only eight or so.
No. 14 Kansas State Wildcats at No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners -7
I'm taking the Wildcats because I believe this matchup is even. Oklahoma and Kansas State both have offenses that run the ball well, and competent quarterbacks to air it out as well. Both defenses are above average. Home-field advantage simply isn't worth seven points, so I'm calling for the Sooners to win by only three.
No. 15 Oklahoma State Cowboys at No. 12 TCU Horned Frogs -10
After we won money on them the past two weeks, Las Vegas is finally figuring out that TCU is good. The Horned Frogs should have defeated Baylor last week but one-sided calls by the referees allowed the Bears to pull out a narrow win. Oklahoma State is above average on both sides of the football, though they don't do anything to truly impress me in either facet. TCU is one of the top six teams in college football. They'll destroy Oklahoma State in this one.
No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at No. 2 Florida State Seminoles -11.5
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will suit up against Notre Dame, despite a slew of off-field issues that would sideline a lesser talent. The Seminoles' defense will make life hard on the Fighting Irish, but Notre Dame is better on that side of the ball than in previous seasons. I don't think Notre Dame can win this game. Still, with all the distractions facing Florida State, I think Notre Dame keeps it close enough to cover this large number.
