Week Nine was one to forget as we went 0-4 with our college football predictions, while not being close with three of the four picks. Michigan almost covered the spread against rival Michigan State, but the Spartans ran up the score up in the final seconds instead of downing the ball to end the game. When it rains it pours. This was our worst week in three years of doing college football predictions. We're putting it behind us and looking to the future, as we aim to get back on track in week 10.
College Football Year-to-Date Record: 20-21
No. 2 Florida State -4.5 at No. 25 Louisville
Rumors are swirling that numerous members of the Florida State football program face suspension for one reason or another. Coach Jimbo Fisher keeps insisting everything is fine, though. It appears the Seminoles won't be shorthanded for their game against Louisville, but their minds will be elsewhere because of the many problems surrounding the program. Florida State isn't as good as they were a year ago, and will struggle to move the ball in a tough road environment. Go with the Cardinals to pull the outright upset.
No. 7 TCU -5.5 at No. 20 West Virginia
The Horned Frogs are finally getting the respect they deserve after winning us all sorts of money earlier this season. TCU is strong on both sides of the ball, and I don't trust the Mountaineers to show much consistency from one week to the other. West Virginia is a quality team, but I have TCU as a top five team in the country. I think they find a way to win by double digits.
No. 3 Auburn at No. 4 Ole Miss -2.5
Ole Miss had every opportunity to win last week against LSU, but some boneheaded decisions in the final minutes cost them a chance at victory. The Rebels are still the best college football team in the nation and they should bounce-back at home against a quality Auburn squad. The Tigers won't be able to move the ball against this defense, so bet on the Rebels to win by eight or more.
No. 12 Arizona at No. 22 UCLA -6.5
The Bruins haven't impressed me all season, and they still have glaring holes on both sides of the ball. Arizona appears to be the stronger team, but this is a really tough road game for them, and I'm not sold their young quarterback can do well with all the crowd noise. UCLA needs the win more and Arizona is a tick overrated, so take the Bruins to win by seven. Their experience gives them the edge.
No. 17 Utah at No. 14 Arizona State -6
It appears likely the Sun Devils will have concussed quarterback Taylor Kelly back in the lineup for this game. Even if he misses another week, Arizona State has a quality backup to lead them. The Utes are coming off a very impressive win at home against USC, but Arizona State is a much larger challenge. The Sun Devils are deep and many teams struggle to play in the heat at Sun Devil Stadium. Take Arizona State to win by around 10.
