We just can't get any rhythm going with our college football predictions. After going 2-4 last week, we'll aim to get back on track this week. As many bad defeats as we've had in college football this year, I have to say we were a little lucky to even go 2-4 with Alabama needing overtime to cover the spread against LSU. The game was one of our two winners last Saturday. There are a total of five college football games on the week 12 schedule pitting top 25 teams against one another. We'll make predictions on the teams we believe will cover the spread.
College Football Year-to-Date Record: 23-29
No. 8 Ohio State -14 at No. 25 Minnesota
Minnesota has pulled their fair of upsets this season, but I think their luck runs out in a big way on Saturday. The Golden Gophers have a nice defense, but there isn't a team in the country that can slow down Urban Meyer's offense right now. Minnesota's offense is extremely limited because they can't pass the football. This one has all the making of an ugly rout.
No. 19 Clemson -2.5 at No. 22 Kentucky
The Wildcats have played some poor games recently, but their talent level is still impressive on both sides of the football. Clemson is a decent enough team, but I'm just not sure I can trust them in big games. They seem to always struggle in the spotlight, and I'm a big believer in Kentucky. The Wildcats are an underdog at home. Take them.
No. 16 Nebraska at No. 20 Wisconsin -6.5
It's extremely difficult to know what to make of Wisconsin anymore considering they look like a completely different team on a game-by-game basis. With Joel Stave looking back to normal, I expect the offense to take heat off the backs of the defenders. Still, this isn't an easy team to trust. Ultimately, I don't think Nebraska is a legitimate top 25 college football team, so I'm rolling with the Badgers this week. I think they'll win by double digits.
No. 1 Mississippi State at No. 5 Alabama -10
This line is crazy. Honestly, I think this is probably the worst line the odds makers will put out all week. Alabama's defense is not as good as in previous years, and it is a fact that Mississippi State might have the best SEC defense in 2014. The Crimson Tide's offense under Lane Kiffin looks great against inferior opponents, but can't cut it against top defenses. I'll be a bit surprised if Alabama even wins outright, and absolutely shocked if they cover the point spread.
No. 9 Auburn at No. 15 Georgia -2.5
Auburn seems to be regressing quite a bit recently, but Georgia has a few problems, and the return of Todd Gurley won't fix everything wrong with them. The Tigers are the better team on both sides of the ball and should come out hungry to get back atop the SEC standings. Georgia is a decent team, but they aren't going to be able to beat a team as well-rounded as Auburn. Tigers by nine.
