Our week 12 college football predictions ended up going 3-2 as we correctly predicted Mississippi State to stick close to Alabama, Georgia Tech to win outright as an underdog against Clemson, and for Wisconsin to have no trouble blowing out an overrated Nebraska bunch. We slipped up on Auburn being able to defeat Georgia and Ohio State only won by 7 against Minnesota when we liked them as a 14-point betting favorite. Week 13 should be a fun one and we'll try to get back to our winning ways.
College Football Year-to-Date Record: 26-31
#25 Minnesota Golden Gophers at #23 Nebraska Cornhuskers -10
Nebraska is coming off a humiliating loss and the Golden Gophers are coming off one of their best games of the season. That being said, matchups are everything in football and I can't see Minnesota moving the ball at all here. The Golden Gophers have a nice enough defense but on the road in a tough environment you can expect turnovers to be their undoing as they lose by 3 or more touchdowns.
#15 Arizona Wildcats at #17 Utah Utes -4.5
The Wildcats and the Utes have both been solid college football teams this season and I have question marks surrounding both offenses. I feel that Utah has the superior defense and when you combine that with home field advantage it should make for a comfortable win for the Utes at home. Arizona and the Pac 12 as a whole are vastly overrated and I don't think the Wildcats are a legitimate top 25 team.
#19 USC Trojans at #9 UCLA Bruins -4
Another game pitting two teams who are probably not legitimate top 25 teams but we still like USC to cover the betting odds. The Trojans have holes on both sides of the ball but it's tough to trust UCLA to move the ball against a decent defense. I do like the Bruins' defense and think they'll do enough to keep this game close but ultimately a field goal either way should decide the final tally.
#8 Ole Miss Rebels -3.5 at Arkansas Razorbacks
Times aren't as bright for Ole Miss after a pair of recent losses but you also have to consider that both games were incredibly winnable for the Rebels and they'd be ranked #1 if a small break or two went their way. Arkansas is a team that runs the ball well and plays solid enough defense but they are in over their heads against a team that is still one of the top teams in college football. Look for the Rebels to bounce back with an easy win.
Boston College Eagles at #3 Florida State Seminoles -17
Florida State has survived numerous close calls this season and they could be in for another nail biter on Saturday against Boston College. The Eagles run the ball extremely well which helps support a bet on the underdog since the clock is moving constantly when they are on offense. Florida State is capable of putting up points against this team but Jameis Winston and company haven't been particularly sharp this year. Take Boston College to only lose by 8 or so.
