Our week 12 NFL predictions were incredibly frustrating as we wound up with a 7-7 record and lost numerous games by the slimmest of margins. We bet on the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos who were covering the odds until the final seconds against the St. Louis Rams and the Miami Dolphins, respectively. Late touchdowns ruined what was looking like a 9-5 week but .500 while making predictions on every game isn't horrible. Last season we were a bit slow during this part of the year as well before dominating the last month of the season and will try to take a similar course of action in week 13.
NFL Record Year-to-Date: 87-80-1
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions -7
The Bears have no defense and won't be able to score in a tough road environment versus a top tier defense. Take the Lions.
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys -3
The Eagles are another team who has had their defense exposed recently. Dallas could put up 40 without much difficulty so take the Cowboys.
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers -1.5
This figures to be an extremely low-scoring game but I feel like the Seahawks are the better team right now. San Francisco's offensive line is a mess so take Seattle on the road.
Washington Redskins at Indianapolis Colts -10
The Colts can't stop many teams from moving the ball but I also feel Andrew Luck and company can pass all day on this team. Washington loses by 14.
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans -6
The Texans go back to Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback in this one which is a downgrade, and I'm not confident they move the ball. Houston wins this game but probably only by a field goal. They aren't made to blowout teams.
Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills -2.5
Two excellent defenses playing here but I think Cleveland's offense is a tick better. Take the points, although a 3-point Buffalo victory wouldn't really surprise me either.
San Diego Chargers at Baltimore Ravens -6
Baltimore is riding high after their Monday Night Football win versus the Saints but they won't be able to stop Phillip Rivers and the San Diego passing attack at all. The Chargers have a great shot to win this one outright.
New York Giants -2.5 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville has quietly put together one of the elite defenses in the NFL this year and at home against an injury-depleted Giants squad I think they pull out a narrow victory.
Cincinnati Bengals -3.5 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bengals are going to lose a game before too long but I can't see it being this one. Tampa Bay doesn't run the ball well enough to take advantage of Cincinnati's defensive weakness. Bengals by 6.
Oakland Raiders at St. Louis Rams -6.5
St. Louis' defense is finally getting healthy and a shutout here isn't out of the question. The Rams win by double digits without much effort.
New Orleans Saints at Pittsburgh Steelers -4.5
The Steelers don't have a defense this season and the Saints are a live underdog. This has all the makings of a shootout so I love New Orleans getting this many points.
Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings -3
The Vikings are another quality defense that has flown under the radar but ultimately the Panthers are a better team. If Minnesota wins it will likely be by only 3 so take Carolina in a tossup game.
Arizona Cardinals -2.5 at Atlanta Falcons
The Cardinals are in for a rough finish to their season but this should be a winnable game for them. Atlanta doesn't have the defense to stop anyone so take Arizona.
New England Patriots at Green Bay Packers -3
Tom Brady and company are looking great but it's never easy to go into Lambeau Field. That being said, the Patriots are vastly superior defensively so go with New England to get the tough win. Green Bay's defense only looks good when the team has a big lead and that won't be the case here.
Denver Broncos -1.5 at Kansas City Chiefs
The Broncos are stumbling a bit down the stretch but should still be able to score at will against the Chiefs. Kansas City likely can score some points against the Broncos as well but when this matchup turns into a shootout I trust Peyton Manning over Alex Smith. Take the Broncos.
Miami Dolphins -6.5 at New York Jets
We've touted Miami as one of the best teams in the NFL all year and will play them again here. New York has no shot to move the ball.
